Meinhard Schwarzenegger was a celebrity brother who rose to fame as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s brother. He was born on July 17, 1946, in Thal, Austria, and died on May 20, 1971 in Austria. Arnold has spoken about his father who was a Nazi affiliate, and the actor confirms that he was abusive which might have contributed to her brother’s death.

The abuse that Arnold’s father subjected him to with his brother might have been a driving factor that led to Meinhard’s early death.

Early Life

Meinhard was born in 1946, just a year earlier than his brother Arnold. His birth came shortly after the War had ended but his life was hard, considering that his father was a bit abusive. Meinhard and his brother grew up in Thal, a small village in Australia and their early life was very tough.

Meinhard’s father Gustav Schwarzenegger had served as a member of the Nazi Party’s paramilitary wing, and he had a hand in the invasion of Leninghard. His father came home suffering post-traumatic stress syndrome and this made life unbearable for everyone.

Arnold spoke in front of a camera regarding his life, and he mentioned that Austria was a country of broken men. Arnold and his brother were buried underneath buildings, and rubble for three days, and on top of that, they lost the war.

Meinhard’s father has been described as a tyrant and tough police officer by his brother Arnold. Meinhard and his brother would compete against one another for breakfast and go an existent f having to earn their breakfast.

Meinhard’s father would beat him and his brother with belts and the behavior would become worse when he was drunk. Meinhard’s mother was not spared as well. She would be bitten by their father before he would go to the boys.

Death

The death of Meinhard was tragic. He died at the young age of 24, and it was somehow attributed to the torture that he had endured all his years growing up. Meinhard was drunk when he was driving, and he died instantly after he hit a telephone pole.

Arnold spoke about his brother’s death, and he concluded that his brother got into drinking because of the tough life he had endured while growing up. Arnold learned of his brother’s death in 1971, three years after he had relocated to America, to escape his father’s bad behavior.

Meinhard was a delicate person by nature and the tough life he was put through made him more vulnerable. After his brother left Austria for America, he was left behind to continue tolerating his father’s behavior.

Family

Meinhard had no family at the time of his death. He was only 24 years old, survived by his parents and brother. One year after Meinhard died, his father also died of a stroke while his mother lived until 1998.
