The late Ray Charles Robinson is the father of Robyn Moffett. He was born on September 23, 1930 in Albany, Georgia, United States. Talking about his legacy, he was an American singer, songwriter, and pianist.
His successful career has seen him get regarded as one of the most iconic and influential musicians in history. He was even referred to by other musicians as “The Genius.” Charles was the son of Baily Robinson, a laborer, and Aretha Robinson, a laundress.
Charles had much devotion to his mother as she went through much during his birth. Notably, Charles started losing his sight at the age of four and by the time he was seven years, he was blind. The blindness likely resulted from glaucoma.
Her mother then searched for and eventually found a school that would accommodate a blind African-American pupil. That’s how Charles found his way at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blond in St Augustine where he remained from 1937 to 1945.
He was then taught how to play the classical piano and to use other musical instruments. Unfortunately, his mother died when he was 14 years and he decided not to return to school after the funeral.
